Continuing its push into the forefront of Mobile Computing, Xenarc Technologies today released its prototype for a 10.4" XGA TFT LCD monitor with resistive Touchscreen. On the heels of mass production of the 7" VGA Touchscreen monitor which the company introduced in late March of 2002, the 10.4" LCD monitor provides a larger screen and hence, a larger viewing area.
With the popularity of Xenarc Technologies' 7" VGA line of LCD monitors, the Company decided to extend it further with a 10.4" Touchscreen monitor. The monitor is the exact same size as the 1040VT, which includes a TV tuner and various video inputs, but this new monitor was geared more towards Mobile Computing consumers and other such applications. While the 700TS/TSV has been extremely popular with these segments of consumer electronics, performing its functions admirably, there has also been an increase in demand for a larger Touchscreen monitor. This new monitor is designed specifically for that purpose.
A customer of Xenarc Technologies, Emily Lin of New Concept Technologies said, "We see a growing demand for a portable Touchscreen monitor with a larger touch area. It makes sense with the diverse applications that are run on PC's now. With the added diversity comes the need for versatility in terms of how the monitors are manipulated during operation. I have many customers who will be ecstatic that a product such as this is being manufactured." Xenarc Technologies is anticipating delivery of these monitors to begin in mid-March 2003. The prototype unit will be on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show at Xenarc Technologies' booth #53053.
The 1040TS comes with a 15 pin D-SUB VGA input. The screen on the 10.4" is extremely bright for a Touchscreen monitor (rated at 280 cd/m²), and supports resolutions of 800x600 (VGA) up to 1024x768 (XGA). The unit is light weight, weighing in at under 3.1 pounds, and its versatility extends to its VESA stand compatibility.
